Location: Falls Church, Va.

Wedding Date: June 15, 2013

Venue: St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church

Number of Guests: 600

Culture Represented: Eritrea

Description: We tried to go for a traditional Eritrean while breaking the rules with some classic American details….i.e. the garter toss, which raised many eyebrows.

The most memorable part of your wedding: The most memorable part for me was entering the amazing church. From the hand painted mural dome, to the stained glass that allowed the natural light to gaze in, down to the marble aisle…it was an amazing feeling walking towards my future husband standing at the alter awaiting my hand in marriage. Another memorable part of the wedding was the traditional T’Hambele dance done by the entire bridal party.

What makes your wedding unique: There were a lot of small details that my bridesmaid and I used to make the event unique; the rhinestone covered sewa/mese bottles, the envelope box at the gift table, and the party favors which we hand crafted from Eritrea.
