Venue: Botanic Gardens at Chatfield (9/7/13) & Africana Café (9/8/13)
Number of Guests: 130 & 300

Description or Theme of wedding: Rustic Chic
The most memorable part of your wedding: Reading our vows (we wrote them ourselves). We were really nervous about reading something so personal in front of 130 people, but it turned out really beautiful. During the ceremony, it felt like it was just he and I. It was really a surreal feeling. My mind just tuned out everything else. It was amazing.
Also, I initially gave him the wrong hand to put the ring on. Once he realized it he kept whispering to me “you gave me the wrong hand!” It was pretty funny, especially because it took a while for me to get it off, but it’s a memory we’ll have forever.
Did you do anything unique, crazy or fun: Bridesmaids in white non-matching dresses. I wanted my bridesmaids to pick out dresses that were individual to them, and ones that they could re-wear. Also, I love the idea of having bridesmaids in white, it makes the wedding more relaxed and I love breaking from the norms.
What was the most difficult part about planning your wedding: Making sure both cultures were equally represented (this became very hard at times, especially when it came to our mothers).
What was the easiest part about planning your wedding: For me, the bride, writing my vows was the easiest part. It came very naturally and I completed it in one sitting. It wasn’t that easy for Keith ;). I think he ended up with nine different versions before he decided on the final one.
Any words of wisdom to the couple planning their wedding: Let go of all of the unnecessary stress and do what really feels right to you, after all, it is your day ;). Also, the day goes by so fast! Try to savor it all, make it last.
