Wedding Date: May 30, 2015

Description or Theme of wedding: I loved the color Blush and I wanted to incorporate it in both days of our wedding from the bridesmaids’ dresses, decorations and flowers to even their zurias. I also wanted to make it as elegant as possible while keeping our Eritrean traditions alive.
The most memorable part of your wedding: Seeing my handsome husband and son waiting for me down the aisle and getting so excited to hurry up and join them. Also the Melsi night during ARKEY/ARKETE when three of the best men make a vow to protect the bride in her new union.
Did you do anything unique, crazy or fun? For My entrance to the reception, I wanted to dance to music from the 9 Eritrean tribes. Unfortunately the Shimagletat (elders and overseers of the wedding) did not allow it. They insisted we stick to the traditional entrance.
What was the most difficult part about planning your wedding: Planning the wedding all the way from Dallas, TX.
What was the easiest part about planning your wedding: Having so much help and support from my close friends and family, especially the Eritrean Seattle community.
Any words of wisdom to the couple planning their wedding: It is a journey and your wedding day is the beginning of your journey together as a couple. Always remember that like any other journey, it has ups and downs, highs and lows, but it’s the course that you take and the path that you set that is important. Don’t forget that your wedding isn’t truly about the big party, the money being spent, and the little details that need to get done, but that it is the one day that you will be beginning your journey with the love of your life in front of those who love and want to celebrate your new life together.
